Stormwater Runoff From Busy Airport Safely Discharged to Prestigious Lake

Location: Canberra, ACT

Configuration: Stormceptor Class 1 S.400/100.C1.2C with Oil Alert System

Inlet/Outlet size: 900RCP

Treatment Flow Rate: 150LPS

Total Volume: 53,300L

Excavation depth: 3.8m

The Challenge

The airport is located near to Lake Burley Griffin, so there is a need to treat and monitor all contaminated stormwater runoff from the tarmac without discharging hydrocarbons or nutrient loads to the lake.

Our Solution

SPEL was able to supply a Class 1 Stormceptor with Oil Alert System which treats and monitors the entire Airport terminal catchment.

This also ensures stormwater is safely discharged to Lake Burley Griffin whilst maintaining a strict Stormwater quality discharge and with relatively low maintenance costs.
